Meet me. I’m Michelle Higdon and no, all those dolls are not mine. So don’t be alarmed. I am a college senior (one semester to go and counting) and am living the life – my life, which belongs wholly and completely to the Most High God.
I’m a writer. Once upon a time, I dabbled in inspirational military suspense novels (I like to write about fighting and blood) but quickly put that away in favor of a book that hits a little closer to home: Oh Boyfriend, Where Art Thou? It’s a romance novel for 20somethings about the perils of online dating and the comforts of trusting in God for all that you need. And no, before you ask, it’s not autobiographical.
I have recently had my first published piece released – a biographical entry in the American World War II Correspondents volume of the Dictionary of Literary Biographies. It’s volume 364. I attend North Greenville University and was the fiction editor of the school’s literary magazine, The Mountain Laurel, for the 2012 edition. I will be taking up the mantle of editor for the 2013 edition. My short story, The Hunter and the Dork, won second place in the 2012 edition and my short story, The Wall, snagged first place in the 2011 edition.
As for a life outside of writing, I’m finishing up my degree in Secondary Education Social Studies and can’t wait to have my own high school history classroom. I have a heart and a passion for the unreached people of Canada and can’t wait to go on a long-term missions trip back to British Columbia – if that is God’s plan for me.
And lastly, I love to read. Seriously. If you’re looking for a good book to read, please check out the “Featured Bookshelf” page on this site for some suggestions. Also feel free to check out the “Links” page for some great websites that I highly recommend.
